Red hot Orange host struggling Huskies

By By MIKE LEVIN

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Orange have been piling up the wins this season, with ten in a row heading into Wednesday's Big East showdown with UConn.  The game will be broadcast nationally at 7 p.m. as part of ESPN's Rivalry Week, live from the Carrier Dome.

The Orange are 23-1 this season, 10-1 in the Big East, while the Huskies have struggled this season, at 14-9, 4-6 in the conference.  Syracuse comes into the game ranked #2 in the AP poll, #3 in the Coaches.

The matchup would normally pit two coaches with over 800 wins, Jim Boeheim of Syracuse (822) and Jim Calhoun of UConn (819).  However, Calhoun has been on a medical leave of absence for the Huskies last six games.

It's also the first time the two teams have faced each other since their six overtime thriller during the quarterfinals of last year's Big East tournament, an epic 127-117 Orange win.
