Orange reach top of the polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Syracuse Orange are the #1 team in the polls for the first time during a season, since 1989-90.  They were #1 in the Coaches poll after winning the National Title in 2003.  The final AP poll is released at the end of the season.

SU made a statement to the pollsters Saturday night, beating Big East rival Villanova 95-77 at the Carrier Dome, in front of the largest on campus basketball crowd in NCAA history.  With each of the three teams ahead of them, Kansas, Kentucky and Purdue, all losing this week, the Orange moved to the top in both the AP and Coaches polls

SU has two regular season games left, Tuesday at home against St. John's and Saturday at Louisville.
