UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica Brewers fell to the Syracuse Junior Chiefs 11-6 Friday night at Murnane Field. It's the first of three straight nights of home games for the Brewers, who fell to 8-7 on the season.
Syracuse scored four runs in the first two innings, the first on a fielder's choice in the first inning, hit by David Wolak. They got three more in the second inning, two on a bases loaded single by Wolak.
The Brewers rebounded in the middle innings, getting back within a run in the fourth, but Syracuse scored three more in the fifth, then later sealed the win with three more in the ninth.
Christian Knott hit a two run home run for Syracuse, his second of the season.
Zach Loraine led the way for Utica, with three hits, four RBI and a run scored. Proctor grad Ruan Donovan struggled in two innings of relief for the Brewers, giving up three runs on two hits and two walks.
Utica will host Geneva Saturday night, then Adirondack on Sunday.
