Carter-Williams drafted 11th by Philly
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Former Syracuse Point Guard Michael Carter-Williams was taken by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 11th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft Thursday night. The Sixers were in the market for a point guard after trading their starter, Jrue Holiday, just minutes earlier, to New Orleans for #6 pick Nerlens Noel from the University of Kentucky, who is a former teammate of Carter-Williams.
"Me and Nerlens grew up together, we're best friends," Carter-Williams said after his selection. "We played on the same AAU team together in high school. It's like a dream come true, we always talked about how we were going to make it to the NBA. For us to end up on the same team, is a blessing."
MCW was an integral part of Syracuse's run to the Final Four in Atlanta, where they fell to Michigan.
