HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The defending NJCAA Division III men's soccer champions from HCCC opened a new season with a 5-1 win over Bunker Hill CC in the Coliseum Soccer Club Classic at Wehrum Stadium Saturday.  Charlie Anderson led the way for the Generals, scoring three goals within the game's first ten minutes.

The first goal came in the first minute of the game, as Michael Pope set up Anderson with a beautiful pass.  Herkimer scored again within five minutes of the start, as Korab Syla set up for a corner kick, then fed Jordan Stoddart, who headed the ball in.  The third goal, the second by Anderson, was set up by Aegeus Ruddock.

The 3-0 lead held until halftime, then HCCC picked up two more goals in the second, courtesy of Pete McAvoy and Jimmy Calderon.

The Generals will face CC Morris in the tournament championship Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
