UC to open the season Friday

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - It's been an eventful year for the Utica College men's hockey team as they made it to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time, hosted their first ever tournament game and even made their first ever trip to the Frozen Four.

But in the offseason, head coach Gary Heenan flirted with a Division I job in Alaska and the team also found out they'd be sharing the Utica Memorial Auditorium with the new Utica Comets of the AHL  UC's not letting any of those distractions get to them, however, as the season opens Friday at Nazareth.  The first home game is Saturday night against Brockport.

The Pioneers have 13 seniors back from last year's Frozen Four team, which includes local boys Rob Morton and Jordan Hobaica.
