UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Friday was a banner day for the Utica College Girls' Softball Team and the local economy is getting a boost, as well. The team is going into the Empire 8 games this weekend in first place, giving them the privilege of hosting the weekend-long tournament, and, teams from around the state. "We're excited to host," said Utica College Athletic Director Dave Fontaine. "It's the first time we've ever done this in U.C. history and the first time we've ever been number one regular season seed so we're excited about it." There are 90 girls from out of town teams, all here with their families, who are staying in local hotels, eating in local restaurants and shopping in local stores.
