Georgetown upends top seed Syracuse

By By JASON POWLES

MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Syracuse Orange were stunned by Georgetown 91-84 on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Orange got off to the early lead but could never really steam ahead against the Hoyas mostly because Georgetown was sharp inside the three point line. SU led by just three at the half. The second half was mostly Georgetown as they went on a 19-2 run. They shot 69 percent from the field led by Chris Wright's 27 points.

Once Syracuse relinquished the lead they could not get it back. To make matters worse, the Orange lost Arinze Onuaku to a knee injury with about five minutes to play in the second half. Wes Johnson led the Orange with 24 points. The 'Cuse will now wait to see if this loss will hurt their number one seed changes in the NCAA Tournament. They must also see if Onuaku's injury will keep him out of action as well.

Georgetown will now face the winner of Marquette on Friday at 7pm. Marquette upset Villanova 80-76.
