New Hartford Boys Lax Shuts Down Whitesboro

Sports WKTV

If defense wins championships, the New Hartford boys lacrosse team is headed in the right direction. The Spartans shut down rival Whitesboro on the road on Monday 7-2, improving to 3-1 this season.

After the Spartans scored just 20 seconds into the 1st quarter, the game became a battle of goalies, as New Hartford's Dan Alcott and Whitesboro's Kyle Tritten each proved to be nearly unbeatable. New Hartford managed another goal late in the 2nd for a 2-0 lead at halftime, then pulled away just enough in the second half for the victory.

Alcott combined with Sagar Patel for 12 saves (six each), while Tritten made 22 saves. Thomas Karam scored a game-high three goals for the Spartans.

The loss drops Whitesboro to 3-3.
