LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - For those thinking Adirondack might be the team to beat in Class C East this year, well, Little Falls did just that on Saturday.  The Mounties showed some big-play offense and a tremendous amount of defense in their season opener, coming back to beat the Wildcats 18-14.
In Bryan Shepardson's debut as the Mounties' head coach after spending several years as an assistant, wide receiver Devin Mannuzza proved to be the go-to guy.  Mannuzza scored the first touchdown of the game in the first quarter on a 25-yard 4th down swing pass, then scored the go-ahead and final touchdown in the fourth on a 65-yard pitch-pass from running back Ryan Dawley with 5:50 remaining.  Mannuzza finished with 104 yards receiving and the two scores on five catches.
After Mannuzza's first score put Little Falls up 6-0, Adirondack answered right back with a 20-yard touchdown run by Tom Egnaczyk to tie the game.  Adirondack went ahead in the second quarter on a 1-yard TD run by Scott Dunlap, who then ran in a two-point conversion for a 14-6 lead.  Little Falls answered late in the quarter on a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Alex Chlus, cutting the score to 14-12 at the half.
The Mounties' defense was led by linebacker Jake Foster, who made nine tackles.
