Top-Ranked West Genesee Pounds Proctor

by BRIAN SANDLER

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - With Proctor still searching for its first win of the season, top-ranked, undefeated, defending state champion West Genesee was the last team the Raiders needed to see.  Sure enough, the Wildcats lived up to their hype, pulling away in the second half for a 37-6 win Friday night at D'Alessandro Stadium.

At halftime, Proctor looked to be in good position with only a 14-0 deficit.  But West Genesee scored on its opening possession of the third quarter, then intercepted a pass on Proctor's first possession and turned that into a touchdown, and suddenly it was 28-0 less than four minutes in.

Kelly Olney scored the Raiders' lone touchdown on a quarterback keeper.

With the victory, West Genesee improves to 2-0 in Class AA-1 and 4-0 overall; Proctor falls to 0-2 (0-4).
