CHITTENANGO, N.Y. (WKTV) - In what's become a weekly show, Anthony Acevedo rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns and Joe Carcone added 115 and two to lead defending Section III, Class A champion New Hartford back to the finals with a 38-14 win over East-Syracuse Minoa Friday night at Chittenango.

Each played carried the ball 16 times with Carcone's highlight being a 57-yard TD on a screen pass in the final minute of the first half to make it 24-0 and Acevedo's being a 99-yard quarterback keeper to make it 38-0 in the third.

New Hartford, the top seed and ranked No. 4 in the state in Class A, improves to 9-0 and will face longtime local rival Whitesboro in the championship Friday at the Carrier Dome at 5:00.  Whitesboro, the No. 3 seed and ranked No. 17, is 8-1 after defeating No. 2 Fulton 35-20 in the other semifinal.  The Warriors' only loss of the season was a 42-28 defeat at New Hartford in the final week of the regular season.

This will be the fourth time the teams have played for a sectional title but the first since 1993.  New Hartford won that game 13-7 to avenge a 23-0 Whitesboro win the year before, and New Hartford also beat the Warriors in the 1989 championship 19-6.
