Defending Class D champs Hamilton heading back to final


CHITTENANGO, N.Y. (WKTV) - Defending State Champion Hamilton Emerald Knights defeated Margaretville in the Class D regional final 2-0. The Knights will face familiar foe Chazy in the state semifinal next Saturday at 1pm at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta.

The game was scoreless in the first half until Hamilton's Daniel Meeks scored making it 1-0 Emerald Knights. In the second half, Mikey Jones notched another goal for the Knights. Goalie Kinnon Nolan-Finkel had seven saves in the shutout.

Last year, Hamilton needed three late second half goals to force overtime against Chazy in the state final. Dan Kraynak would score the game winner in overtime to give Hamilton the state title. This time around, Hamilton is ranked 4th in the state while Chazy is ranked number one.
