ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New Hartford Spartans are the Division II East champs after beating RFA 4-2 on Friday night.

Clay Whittemore had a hat trick in the win for the Spartans who with 23 points clinch the league title. Alex Fukes added a goal and Spencer Landry stopped 33 shots.

New Hartford led 3-0 in the third period but RFA made a late charge with goals by Eric Joyce and TJ Reilley. However, Fukes goal with under three minutes to go sealed the deal. Mike Endres stopped 50 shots in the loss.

New Hartford has two games left. They host Cazenovia next Wednesday and then travel to Clinton on Thursday. RFA has just one game left on their schedule as they travel to Hamilton next Thursday.
