Clinton a win away from hockey postseasonWHITESTOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - The postseason is within the grasp of the Clinton hockey team, with the Warriors needing just one win in their last two wins to clinch, after their 4-3 overtime win over Whitesboro Friday night. Clinton needs only to beat Proctor next Tuesday to make the playoffs, though they also meet New Hartford on Thursday. In Friday's game, Whitesboro got on the board first, with a John Odell goal in the first period. But Clinton tied it up thanks to a Steve Abdoo goal on the power play. Whitesboro would take the lead before the end of the first, on a Dave Egresits power play goal. In the third, Clinton tied the score thanks to Jake Vialek's score, then took the lead on Abdoo's second goal. But with five minutes left in regulation, Anthony DeMchele tied it to send the game into overtime. With just three seconds left in the extra session, Will Blazer scored on an empty netter to give Clinton the dramatic win, keeping hope alive for a Clinton playoff run. Jake Hilton had 35 saves in the Clinton net, while Tyler Garcia had 22 for Whitesboro.
