Miller, Welch help Marauders stay perfect

NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New York Mills boys basketball team's perfect season is intact, as the #1 Class D team in the state beat Copenhagen 80-58 in the Section III Quartefinals Friday night.  But the Marauders had to mount a comeback early on, which they did.  In fact, beginning in the middle of the second quarter through the end of the third, Mills outscored Copenhagen 38-15.  Matt Welch was the leading scorer, with 24 points, and he also grabbed 13 rebounds.

Fred Russ added 15 points and 12 rebounds, but it was Jeremy Miller that provided the spark to the #1 Marauders.  His buzzer beater gave the team a 28-23 lead at the end of the quarter, and his leadership helped Mills extend that lead to 49-38 at the half.  Miller had 22 points.

NY Mills advances to the Section III Semifinals, where they will meet Sackets Harbor.
