Athlete of the Week:Carly Dziekan

NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - This week's Athlete of the Week is Carly Dziekan from New York Mills field hockey.

The senior is a three-sport athlete who plans to play field hockey in college while studying chemistry.

Her eight goals and eight assists have helped the Lady Marauders reach the Class D section finals, where they hope to win, just like the Mills team stacked with big names did two years ago.

Dziekan says, "I was close with a lot of the seniors that year. They remind me so much of us. Such a tight knit group and so many of them multi-sport. We learned from them that we have to work hard all the time, 60 minutes, can't take a play off and that's what we've been doing this year. Hopefully we can do what they did two years ago."

New York Mills Head Coach Andrea Dziekan says, "She's a leader on and off the field. She's an honor student. She knows her goals and she reaches them and she doesn't care who scores the goals. She's there to high five that girl. She just wants her final thing to be able to have a sectional championship."
