CLINTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - Eighth grader Darby DeAngelo scored Clinton's fourth and final penalty kick as the Lady Warriors advanced past rival Holland Patent in the Class B quarterfinals on Thursday.
Clinton got on the board early in the firt half on a Carly Denison goal. Holland Patent could not find the back of the net until late in the second half when Ellie Bortiatynski headed in a corner kick from Ashley Stanley to tie the game at one.
The teams then went through two ten minute overtimes and two five minute sudden death overtimes with no goals. Each team picked their five players and lined up for penalty kicks.
Clinton scored their first three goals while Holland Patent was stopped on their first two. Shay Callahan was the only Lady Golden Knight to tally. That's when DeAngelo stepped up and burried the game winner for Clinton, who finished the season unbeaten at home.
The Lady Warriors await the winner of Cazenovia and South Jefferson who play on Friday.
