(WKTV) - The Clinton baseball team is heading back to the Class B state final four this weekend, facing Schalmont with a spot in the championship game on the line. It's the second straight year the Warriors have made it to this point, having advanced to the final in 2013.
To get to this year's final four, Clinton won the Section III title again, beating Frankfort-Schuyler 14-7, then topped Section IV champ Susquehanna Valley 3-2 last Saturday in the regional round from OCC.
Head coach Tom Pfisterer spoke with NEWSChannel 2 Wednesday afternoon about how his team has come together again, with another chance to win it all.
"This is a bunch that's grown together as a team all year long," Pfisterer said. "To spend this kind of time together, we're talking an extra two or three weeks of practice, they've really bonded together as a team. They've decided to dress up to go out to Binghamton, so they can there, show up with a little bit of class. They're looking forward to the night together, the cookout that goes on down there and they're really excited about Saturday. They're not nervous, they're excited and they've been there before."
The semifinal game vs. Schalmont is set for 1 p.m. Saturday from Binghamton University, with the championship game at 4 p.m.
