Dolgeville falls to Sandy Creek in semis


ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Dolgeville football team fell short in the Section III Class D semis Friday night, 26-12 to defending champ Sandy Creek at RFA Stadium.  The Comets broke a scoreless tie with two fourth quarter touchdowns to ice the win, one by Tyler Swarthout, who had three TDs for Sandy Creek.

The Blue Devils scored the game's first touchdown, a 12 yard run by Devin Coonradt in the first quarter.  Swarthout's first TD, from 15 yards out, tied it at 6 and it stayed that way through halftime.

Swarthout's second TD, from a yard out in the third quarter, gave Sandy Creek the lead, but Dolgeville tied it on a two yard TD run by Jason Nastovski.

The Blue Devils finish the season at 7-2.  The Comets advance to the Class D section final, next Saturday at Noon from the Carrier Dome.
