By MIKE LEVIN

WKTV - Four local athletes have made their college choices with three signing their letters of intent Wednesday and one more expected to sign Thursday.

The first four athletes are Derek Bard of New Hartford, who is going to the University of Virginia on a golf scholarship.  Last June Bard became the first Section III golfer to win the state title since 1992 and the first from the Mohawk Valley since 1979.

Two athletes signed on Wednesday afternoon, first Zane Smith, an Ilion native who goes to Notre Dame and is a three sport athlete.  He's going to Bryant University in Rhode Island on a baseball scholarship.

Also signing Wednesday afternoon was Meghan Pflieger, who goes to Holland Patent and also represents New Hartford at Valley Gymnastics, where she officially signed with New Hampshire.

Austin Bouse of Clinton will be signing his letter to play baseball at LeMoyne on Thursday.
