Mills wins rivalry battle with Oriskany


ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New York Mills boys basketball team topped rival Oriskany 74-55 Tuesday night, in a game that felt close all the way through.  Oriskany fought to the end and their fans kept the atmosphere electric, despite the score.

Sports Express Athlete of the Week Ryan Schmadel scored 27 for the Redskins, who fell to 1-3 on the season.

Nick Comenale led all scorers with 31 for the Marauders, 26 of that in the first half.  Zach Vennaro added 17.

Mills(5-0) began the game with a 23-0 run, taking a 31-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 43-16 lead at the half. 

The Marauders are off until December 29 and 30, when they play in the STOP-DWI Tournament in Binghamton.  Oriskany will host Owen D. Young Friday.
