Poland, West Canada advance to finals

SAUQUOIT, N.Y. (WKTV) - In Tuesday's boys soccer sectional semifinal doubleheader at Sauquoit Valley, Poland and West Canada Valley both advanced to their respective section finals.

In the first game, Poland, the undefeated top seed in Class D, beat Owen D. Young 4-1.  Cameron Tabor scored the game's first goal in the first half and Dustin Debrule followed, knocking in a shot by Branden Garrett to make it 2-0 at the half.

The Tornadoes' leading scorer, Mark Hennings, then added to the lead in the second half.  With Poland up 3-0, the Wildcats finally got on the board thanks to Ryan Crouse, making it 3-1.  But the Tornadoes held on from there, adding a late goal from Mike Sypolt.

In the second game of the doubleheader, West Canada beat Hamilton 2-0 to advance to the Class C final.  Chase Roesler put the Indians on the board in the first half, while keeper Michael Sternberg shut down the Emerald Knights.  George Youngs added the second goal for the Indians in the second half.
