Proctor holds on for a 24-21 win over RFA

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - It wasn't the shootout some thought it would be but it certainly was entertaining. The Proctor Raiders held off a late charge by RFA to go on to win the oldest rivalry in the state 24-21 on Friday night.

The Black Knights got two touchdown runs from quarterback Kyle Hash, his first made it 7-0 RFA. Proctor cut into that lead on a Jordan Treen to Walkery Mills touchdown pass but the extra point was no good so the Raiders tralied 7-6. They later took the lead in the second quarter on a Treen touchdown run to make it 12-7. Hash's second touchdown gave RFA a 14-12. That lead was very short-lived. On the ensuing kickoff, Richard Pete ran 95 yards for the touchdown to five the Raiders a 18-12 lead at the half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Proctor extended the lead on another Mills touchdown catch. He finished with 105 yards receiving on the night while his teammate Treen had 208 yards passing. But RFA wasn't going quietly. The Black Knights cut the lead to 24-21 after Hash fumbled into the endzone, teammate Mike Phillips fell on the loose ball for the score.

RFA would then recover the onside kick. The with just over a minute to go, the Black Knights tried to kick a game-tying field goal that was wide left. Proctor would then run out the clock. The Raiders improve to 2-0 overall while RFA drops to 1-1.
