Three local high school basketball teams are heading to the state final four after winning in the regional round Saturday:  the Oriskany and Oneonta girls as well as the Boys from NY Mills.

The Marauders beat Marathon 70-57 in the Class D regional from Oneonta State, with NEWSChannel 2 Athlete of the Week and All-Star Nick Comenale leading the way with 22 points and ten rebounds.  Cody Mariotti added 19 points, while Andrew Suprenant chipped in 11.  It's the third trip to the semis in the last four years for Coach of the Year Mike Adey's team, who won it all in 2011.  Mills will face Argyle from Section II, Friday morning at 11:45 from the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Two other local teams competed in regionals at Oneonta State Saturday: Oriskany and Cooperstown, with Oriskany beating Marathon 51-46 in Class D, and Cooperstown falling 45-43 to Harpursville in Class C.  Brandi Zizzi led the way for Oriskany, with 14 points, while Jordan Sahl added 11.  They'll face Livingston Manor in the state semis next Saturday morning at 9 from HVCC in Troy.

At OCC's SRC Arena, Oneonta beat Notre Dame in a battle of two local teams, 57-52.  Mariah Ruff, who was held scoreless in the first quarter, finished with 28 points and nine rebounds.  Her AAU teammate, Emily Durr of the Jugglers, had 23 points.  The Yellow Jackets, who advance to the state final four for the third time in five years, but first since 2010, will meet Irvington of Section I, Friday morning at 10 from HVCC.
