NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Despite having only one win heading into their big showdown with rival New Hartford Friday night, the Whitesboro football team still came out on top, 14-6 at Don Edick Field. The Warriors have won every game against their biggest rivals since the 2009 season.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Warriors got on the board after Bodhi Forbes completed a long pass to Travis Eberley to get Whitesboro into the red zone. Forbes would later score on a one yard TD run to put the Warrriors up 7-0.
The Spartans' offense finally got moving toward the end of the first half, as Adam Zogby completed a pair of first down passes to David Han. That set up an option pass from Zogby to Steve Tomaino to Dominick Pfisterer for a 23 yard TD pass.
Whitesboro still led 7-6 at halftime, then extended that lead with a 21 touchdown pass from Forbes to Mike DiVicarro. The Spartans had major issues with turnovers in the second half as they lost the ball three times in the third quarter and another in the fourth.
The win for Whitesboro was their second straight, as the Warriors improved to 2-4 on the season. They'll close out the regular season next Friday night in Watertown.
New Hartford's loss snapped a four game win streak and dropped them to 4-2 on the season. The Spartans close out the 2013 regular season at home against Indian River next Friday.
