Athlete of the Week: Tanner Niedzialkowski, CooperstownCOOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - This week's Athlete of the Week is Tanner Niedzialkowski from Cooperstown. In addition to having a 14-letter last name, the 6-foot-3 senior fullback rushed for 209 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries in the Section III, Class C South-East Conference Semifinals against Canastota, helping to keep the Redskins undefeated. With his size and speed Niedzialkowski can either run a player over or run by him, and while he definitely has a preference, he's smart enough to know when to do it. "I have to say it's more fun to bowl somebody over, but sometimes it's not the right choice to make. It depends on the run, what the right thing to do and what the more fun thing to do is." Says head coach Steve Pugliese, "Tanner is the real deal. He's the most powerful running back I have. "I don't think [defenses] realize once they hit him how powerful he is, and if he sheds off how fast he is. So he's got two weapons there." |
