New Hartford baseball sweeps Lowville

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Using wood bats for Saturday's doubleheader, the New Hartford baseball team made the wood work with a sweep of Lowville, 10-2 and 9-8.

In the first game, the Spartans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and starting pitcher Pat Derrane made the runs stand for the win.

In the second game, New Hartford trailed 8-4 going into the seventh inning but rallied for five runs to pull out a victory.  Chandler Evans had the game-winning hit, singling to center with runners on first and third and two outs and the Spartans trailing 8-7.  Joe Betar scored to tie the game then Vin Servadio scored the game-winning run when the ball skipped past the center fielder.

New Hartford is now 7-0 overall.
