BROOKFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - For the second straight spring, the Brookfield baseball team will be playing for the Section III Class D title in Syracuse. The Beavers will face Oriskany Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Alliance Bank Stadium.
The Redskins beat NY Mills in the semis to get there, the same school Brookfield beat in 2011 to win their first ever section title.
"Just being able to play at Alliance Bank (Stadium) in my opinion is a feat," says head coach Jamie Reilly. "You play all season long with the hopes of playing at alliance bank. If you are fortunate enough to play there that means you are one of the last two teams to play in baseball in Section Three."
"Playing there, a lot of great people have played there, playing on the same field and everything," adds senior pitcher Jordan Price. "That's something that I'll always remember forever so, and being there with my team, sharing the experience and everything. That's good."
Brookfield has seven returning starters from last year's team, so they look a lot like the team that made it all the way to the state final four.
The Beavers come into the showdown with a record of 17-1, including a pair of tough sectional wins over Hamilton and McGraw. So they're ready for the big stage again.
"It's crazy, all the fans, I remember last year it was hot, hot hot hot, but It was nuts just being there, it was an awesome feeling," says senior second baseman Austin Warner.
