Brookfield falls in state semis


JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Brookfield baseball team had a perfect 2011 season going, until a 5-3 loss Saturday to Loudonville Christian in the state semifinals.  The Eagles scored three runs in the third inning and two more in the fifth. 

Pitcher Alex Malossi, who had eleven strikeouts, held off the Beavers in the late innings to seal the win.  Brookfield got single runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh.

The Beavers were trying to become the first baseball team from the Mohawk Valley to win a state championship since Proctor in 2007.
