Clinton opens playoffs with win over Notre Dame

By MIKE LEVIN

CLINTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Clinton baseball team opened up the Section III Class B playoffs with a 16-6 thumping of Notre Dame Thursday in the first round.  The Warriors, a state finalist last year, are seeded second in the bracket, while the Jugglers were the fifteen seed.

The game didn't start well for Clinton, though, as starting pitcher Jon Hardy was injured just two batters in, falling awkwardly while fielding a bunt hit by Jayson Maxwell.

Alex Dobrzenski came in and pitched the rest of the way, earning his sixth win of the season.

The Warriors scored three runs in the first and second innings, then two in the third, one in fourth, three more in the fifth, then four in the sixth.

Andrew Taft hit a home run and a double, driving in four runs for Clinton, who advances to meet V-V-S Saturday in the Quarterfinal Round.
