Gorski, Whitesboro stop NH

By MIKE LEVIN

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Whitesboro baseball team stayed perfect on the year with a 3-2 win over rival New Hartford Tuesday.  The Spartans threatened in the bottom of the sixth, but Dylan Gorski made a perfect stop on Vinny Servadio on a double steal attempt at the plate.  Although Servadio beat the throw, Gorski blocked him from touching the bag.

"I saw him breaking to home, so I was just calling for the ball and (Adam) Pexton came up throwing, made the pick and I made the tag," said Gorski.

Gorski also drove in the Warriors first run of the game, on a groundout in the fourth that scored Connor Passalacqua.  Gorski would also score the go ahead run in the top of the sxith, on a single hit down the third base line by Devin LeBuis.

Each team's starting pitchers went the distance, with Ben Zalewski striking out three for the Spartans (0-1) and Mike Bunal fanning eleven for the Warriors (2-0).

It was New Hartford head coach John Randall's first game at the helm and he enjoyed it, despite the loss.  "it was good.  The kids, I've been around them enough that I know what to expect out of them.  It's nice to be playing baseball already.  It's a good feeling, to open up with Whitesboro gets the blood flowing."

"We really didn't know what to expect, they're a younger team, so just came out ready to play," Gorski said of the new look Spartans.
