Whitesboro wins back to back Section III titles

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Whitesboro Warriors run will continue. They beat Bishop Ludden 8-6 to take home their second straight Section III, Class A championship on Wednesday night at Alliance Bank Stadium. They will face Burnt HIlls from Section II in a regional game at Bleecker Stadium in Albany on June 6th at 7pm.

Trailing 2-0 in the third, Whitesboro came back on a Brenden Heitz 2-RBI single to tie the game at two. The fifth inning turned out to be key for the Warriors. With the game tied at five, Matt Engler, Dan Cecilia Dylan Gorski all had RBI singles to put Whitesboro up 8-5.

Watson came on in relief for Engler and gave up just one more run. The game ended on a great catch by Heitz at the wall in left field. Watson finished with nine strike outs in four innings of work.

It's the third Section III Class A title for Whitesboro in the last four seasons.
