Whitestown tops Adrean in D-V tourney


ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - In the first game of the District V Legion playoffs, Whitestown topped Adrean 9-7 Monday at DeLutis Field.  Whitestown scored two runs in the seventh to take the lead for good, on a Devin LeBuis double.

Adrean scored the first two runs of the game, but Whitestown struck back in the bottom of the third, when Mike Sullivan hit a solo home run.  Chris Faro extended Adrean's lead in the top of the fourth, with an RBI single scoring Zane Smith.

Whitestown then took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the inning, first tying the score at three on a shot by Dylan Gorski that scored two runs.  Mike Bunal's bloop single then scored Gorski to put Whitestown up 4-3.

Whitestown advances to play Moran-Sylvan Beach who beat Ft. Schuyler 7-3. That game is set for Tuesday night at eight, while Adrean will face Ft. Schuyler at one.

In other action, Smith Post beat Utica 10-3 and Helmuth Ingalls blanked Roberts 10-0 in seven innings. Smith will face Helmuth Ingalls at 4:30pm on Tuesday while Utica will take on Roberts at 1pm.
