West Canada Valley Boys Wipe Out Waterville

NEWPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - On Friday, the top seed in the Section III, Class C-1 boys basketball tournament fell to the No. 9 seed in the quarterfinals.  On Saturday, West Canada Valley made sure the same would not happen in the C-2 bracket, washing away Waterville 80-50.

Waterville actually took the first lead of the game, going up 3-0 29 seconds in.  But the home Indians outscored the visiting Indians 24-2 through the end of the first quarter to take command.

Jared Suderley led West Canada Valley's attack with 31 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks while Alex Maxwell added 10 points.  As a team, the home Indians, ranked No. 6 in the state in Class C, had a season-high nine blocks, grabbed 50 rebounds (27 offensive), committed a season-low seven turnovers and forced 21 turnovers, including 10 steals.

West Canada Valley, now 19-2, will face No. 4 seed Fabius-Pompey in the semifinals.  The place, date and time will be determined Monday morning.

Waterville was led by R.J. Baumgarten's 13 points and finishes the season 8-14.
