King of Kings crowns champions


UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The King of Kings summer basketball league crowned three champions Sunday at MVCC.  Brandon Triche's Motivated team won their first title in the men's league, 106-99 over defending champions Upstate Swagger..

Triche, the former SU guard who led his Italian team to a championship, had 18 points, but it was Mickey Davis who had the hot hand, scoring 40.  Colgate's Pat Moore, a Notre Dame graduate, had 20.  SUNYIT and Holland Patent grad Dave Golembiowski led Swagger with 29, while Scott Morton added 28.

In the first game of the day, Utica Select beat 315 Elite 82-71 in the College Prospect League final.  Proctor sophomore Jalen Hawkins had a game high 23 points for Select, while ND's Joe Sullivan added 19.  Daquan Testamark of Proctor led Elite with 16 points, while ND's Jerome Brabham had 15 and Kevin Warmack added 13.

In the women's final, Utica Select beat Lo Entertainment 73-52.  Rachel Coffey had 25 points for Select, while Sheila Dixon added 18.  Irene Hudson had the high for LE, with 24.
