GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - New York Mills Coach Mike Adey felt his 2012-2013 team had what it took to be Class D state champions, but he said a third quarter run by #1 ranked Argyle from Section II in Friday's state semifinal was the difference.

The Mills boys lost 67-60 in an up and down game that featured one of the state's best players.

Five foot nine inch senior point guard Joey Lufkin dominated the first half.

Lufkin, who averages 33 points per game, finished with 32 Friday.

Adey called Lufkin a great player and wished Argyle luck in the state championship game.

Argyle now plays Martin Luther King of Hastings-On-Hudson in the championship game at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Argyle led 53-42 going into the 4th quarter and stretched that lead to 14 point at one point before Lufkin cooled off and New York Mills made a run to cut the lead to five with under two minutes to go, but would get no closer.

New York Mills Jr. Nick Comenale led the Mauraders with 21 points, and will be back to try to lead the team back to Glens Falls in 2014.

The Mauraders have been to the Final Four three out of the last four years.

The Mills have won two state titles, one in 1982, and one just two years ago in 2011.

New York Mills ends its season at 20-4.
