VVS holds off rival Oneida

VERNON, N.Y. (WKTV) - In a game that saw two different runs that switched up the momentum, V-V-S held off Tri-Valley West rival Oneida, 50-45 Friday night in the season opener for both teams.  Marissa Randall scored a game high 16 points for the Lady Red Devils, while Jenna Didio had 15 to lead the Lady Indians.

With Oneida on top 12-10 in the first quarter, V-V-S went on a 17-5 run, and took a 27-19 lead to halftime.  But the Lady Indians countered with a 20-5 run of their own, and the game was tied late in the fourth quarter.

With 2:38 to go, Leanne Doolen of V-V-S hit a jumper that put the Lady Red Devils on top to stay.
