V-V-S Field Hockey Gets Revenge On Camden For B Title

By by BRIAN SANDLER

CHITTENANGO, NY (WKTV) - In a rematch of last year's Section III, Class B field hockey final, No. 2 seed V-V-S got revenge on Tri-Valley League rival and top-seeded Camden on Sunday, winning the title 1-0 in overtime.

Last year, the teams were also tied at 0-0 after regulation, and after a scoreless overtime and designation of being co-champions, Camden advanced to the state tournament in penalty strokes.  This time the winner was clear, as V-V-S took the title outright.

The victory sends the Lady Red Devils to the state playoffs for the first time since 2004.  They'll face Section IV, Class B champion Maine-Endwell in the regional finals (quarterfinals) Saturday at Vestal at 5:00.
