WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - It's always a battle whenever New Hartford and Whitesboro go face to face in any sport and Monday the Spartans topped their rivals in field hockey, 2-1 at the Ed Wadas Athletic Complex. With the win, New Hartford improves to 6-2 on the season, while Whitesboro fell to 2-3-2.
The Lady Warriors got on the board first, just over nine minutes into the game, on a blast by Brandi Blaszak.
New Hartford tied it about ten minutes later, as Madison Babicz took a shot that trickled in for the equalizer.
The score remained 1-1 at halftime and most of the second half, but with about nine and a half minutes to go and the ball in front of the Whitesboro net, Mary Kate Alessandrini poked it in for the go-ahead, and ulitmately game winning, goal.
