New Hartford and Whitesboro to clash for a Class A Title Friday night

By By JASON POWLES

(WKTV) -  A major rivalry will be renewed Friday when the Whitesboro Warriors take on the New Hartford Spartans at 5:00 pm at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

To say this Class A final is big would be an understatement. The 9-0 Spartans will attempt to beat the 8-1 Whitesboro Warriors for the second time this year. The Spartans handed the Warriors their only loss three weeks ago at Don Edick field.

Since then, both teams have blown out their playoff opponents. New Hartford eliminated Nottingham in the quarterfinals then beat ES-M in the semifinals. Whitesboro did the same to J-D and Fulton.

There is no question this is going to be a marque matchup. In their first meeting, Whitesboro played a solid first half but fell apart in the second half. They need to play a complete game with very few mistakes.

Capitalizing on mistakes is one of man New Hartford strong points. The Spartans have so many weapons, its hard to key on just one. Anthony Acevedo and Joe Carcone are an unbelievable 1-2 punch. It will all come down to which team can execute better and make less mistakes.

WKTV.com will have complete coverage as the game happens. Tune in for Sports Express for a complete wrap-up of the game.
