Warriors squash Spartans playoff hopes

By JASON POWLES

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - On a rainy night at Chiz Frye Field,  the Whitesboro Warrriors beat rival New Hartford 14-6 on Friday night ending the Spartans chance to make the post season.

The game was scoreless after the first half with the Warriors getting on the board with a Brady Holtslag one yard touchdown run to give Whitesboro a 7-0 third quarter lead. The Spartans would then go three and out and pin Whitesboro down at their own 10 yard line. New Hartford would then capitalize on a bad snap and fumble to score their only touchdown of the game. Zack Shipley fell on the ball which cut the Whitesboro lead to 7-6.

In the 4th quarter, the Warriors added to their lead as Steve Almond, who rushed for 164 yards, scored on a three yard run. The Whitesboro defense did the rest holding the Spartan offense to 98 total yards and no touchdowns.

Whitesboro will likely host Jamesville-DeWitt in the first round of the playoffs next week.
