ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A top seed, No. 10 state ranking and 21-1 record meant nothing for the Mohawk girls basketball team on Wednesday as second-seeded and 12th-ranked Bishop Grimes made 12 three-pointers en route to a 59-43 rout in the Section III, Class C-2 championship at RFA.

Bishop Grimes, now 21-2, advances to play C-1 champion Little Falls in the overall Class C championship Saturday at the Utica Aud at 1:45.  Mohawk, which was playing in its first championship game since winning its last title in 2002, ends the season 21-2.

The Lady Cobras had made 128 three-pointers this season coming into the game, and the trend continued with Brooke Bonacci sinking six for all of her 18 points and Cassidy Weeks dropping down five for the majority of her 17.  Amanda Marcely also had double-digit points with 13.

Brittany Harvey led Mohawk with 14 points and five rebounds.

The Lady Mohicans trailed 16-6 after the first quarter, 30-16 at halftime and 46-30 after the third.
