Ilion falls short against Sherburne

By MIKE LEVIN

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Ilion girls basketball team dropped its first game in CSC Division I Thursday, falling 52-50 to Sherburne-Earlville.  Sydney Putnam nearly hit a three pointer to win the game, but the shot barely missed.

Mackenzie Stubley scored an Ilion high, with 18 points, while Briana Vibbard equaled that total for Sherburne.

Ilion led 32-31 at halftime, but S-E went on a run in the third, taking a 46-38 lead after three quarters.  But the Lady Bombers came back and tied it up late.  Sherburne went back up at the free throw line, setting up the game's final play.

With the win, Sherburne improves to 7-2 on the season, 3-1 in CSC D-I.  Ilion falls to 5-2 overall, 3-1 in the league.
