Whitesboro tops New Hartford for first section title

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Whitesboro girls basketball team continued their undefeated season Sunday, beating rival New Hartford 66-32 in the Section III Class A Championship at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.  It was Whitesboro's first ever section title in girls basketball.

The Lady Warriors led by 10 and extended the lead in the second quarter on a 16-2 run.  Their tenacous defense held the Lady Spartans to just nine first half points.

Allie Cady led all scorers with 17 points and took home tournament MVP honors.  Sophomore Jen Deuel chipped in 12 points as the Lady Warriors improved to 21-0.  Ashley Chanatry led New Hartford with 14.

Whitesboro will face the Section II-Section X winner on Saturday, March 12th at 1 p.m. from Liverpool High School.
