Hamilton high school drops hockey
HAMILTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - Hamilton Central School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, Bill Dowsland, announced on Monday that HCS would drop the boy’s varsity hockey program, effective immediately.
“After a great deal of consideration, and consultation with the Board and Coach Murray Decock, we decided that there just weren’t enough HCS players to put together a team going forward.” HCS has been combining with other districts since 1991, sometimes up to nine different schools.
However, next year, with many players going off to prep school and playing junior hockey, the team was left with just four players who actually attend HCS. “It’s just not enough participation to warrant the administrative support,” said Dowsland. “Instead, HCS players will be allowed to try out and play for Cazenovia HS,
