Whitesboro girls lacrosse holds off Clinton

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - Battling the rainy and windy conditions as much as each other on Friday afternoon, the Whitesboro girls lacrosse team opened its season with a 14-10 win over Clinton.

Whitesboro led 8-5 at halftime, then Clinton cut it to 8-7 early in the second half.  Whitesboro responded right away with three goals in 1:06 to pad its lead and held on from there.

Fran Cotrupe led the home Lady Warriors with four goals and two assists while Allie Cady added four goals and one assist.  For the visiting Lady Warriors, Heather Sweet scored a game-high five goals and Caitlyn Moccaldi had a hat trick.

In the cages, Maria Starowicz made nine saves for Whitesboro and Stefanie Moore made seven stops for Clinton, which falls to 0-2.
