WKTV - Training camps are underway for all fall sports in New York State, including football. Among the teams getting started Monday morning were Whitesboro and Proctor.
The Warriors and head coach Tom Schoen, saw something unusual in 2013: a losing record. However, their first four losses came by a combined 13 points and Whitesboro rebounded to win the last three games of the regular season. Schoen and his longtime assistants have most of their line back, so it won't be hard for them to regroup.
Over at Proctor, the Raiders have a new coaching staff, with Jim Giruzzi taking the regins, assisted by offensive coordinator Byron Abraham, the former Notre Dame coach and a Greater Utica Sports HOF inductee, who also played for Syracuse, as did new Proctor line coach Nick Santiago. Add new defensive coordinator Steve Strife and the Raiders have a veritable All-Star coaching staff in place.
