Cooperstown shuts out Clinton

By MIKE LEVIN

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - In a matchup of 2011 section finalists, Cooperstown topped Clinton 3-0 Friday afternoon.  The Redskins, who fell in the Class C Section III final in overtime on an own goal last year, took a 2-0 halftime lead and scored one more in the second to improve to 5-2.  Clinton, the Class B champs last year, fell to 5-3-1.

Fernando Gomez got the Redskins on the board about twelve minutes into the game, as Tanner Clinton set him up.

The scored stayed that way until about ten minutes to go in the half, when Liam Heneghen set up Michael Rowley on a header for Cooperstown's second goal.  Heneghen had the team's third goal in the second half.
