Clinton advances to semis with win over VVS

CLINTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - The defending Section III Class B champion Clinton boys soccer team is a win away from returning to the section finals after a 2-0 win Saturday in the semis over V-V-S.  Schuyler Malak broke a scoreless tie with about fifteen minutes left in the first half and Garrett Drejza added an insurance goal in the second half.

The Warriors have now won 23 straight games over the Red Devils, a streak that dates back to 1999.

Clinton keeper Max Huckaby registered his fifth shutout of the season, saving seven shots.  Justin VanDuLuitgaarden had five in the VVS net.

The Warriors, seeded fourth this year in Class B, advance to the semis where they'll face top seed Westhill.  Clinton beat Westhill i 3-0 n last year's semis, but fell 4-0 to them earlier this season.
